4K-12 Instrumental Music/DP Choir Email Phone: ext. 1504 Virginia (Rogers) Pollock is excited to return to her home town and begin teaching vocal and general music at Green Lake School! Prior to coming back to Green Lake, Virginia lived all over the United States working as a professional musician. Ms. Rogers completed a Masters of Music degree in harp performance in 2005 from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, where she studied with world-renowned harpist Dr. Carol Mclaughlin. Ms. Rogers also spent a summer living in San Francisco while she studied Doug Rioth, the harpist for the San Francisco Symphony. Eventually Ms. Rogers headed east and settled in Boston, where she worked as a freelance harpist with the Gilded Harps and as a ballet accompanist for Boston Ballet, the Boston Conservatory and Dean College. In 2007, Ms. Rogers won third prize in the pedal harp division at the Lyon and Healy International Jazz and Pop Harpfest competition, and in 2008 she accepted a position as the harpist for the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI, where she performed twice-daily concerts for guests. Ms. Rogers is thrilled to be back home and with family, and is looking forward to passing on her knowledge and experiences to Green Lake students! Ms. Rogers currently enjoys playing harp and handbells with the Oshkosh-based professional handbell choir, Encore! Handbell Ensemble, and can frequently be seen playing her harp at venues and with various ensembles throughout the state. She's excited to announce the release of three new CDs featuring her harp playing: her debut solo album, "Chansons Pour Mon Chaton", featuring unique covers and original compositions; as a guest artist with drumming icon Rakalam Bob Moses on the contemporary improvisation CD "The Illuminated Heart"; and as a member of Encore! Handbell Ensemble on their new Christmas CD. Check out her Class Website!
