Empowering Students to Make a Difference!
Dear Family,
This year, our class is proud to participate in Scholastic Book Clubs’ ClassroomsCare Program.
That means, when our class reads 100 Books by December 19, 2008 Scholastic Book Clubs will make a donation of books to needy children through its Literacy Partners. This year, our class is excited to read for Guilford Child Health. Guilford Child Health was established in 1997 to serve as a provider of primary and specialty health-care services for children. The HealthCenter sees children and their families who are uninsured or have Medicaid. Within five years, GCH had cared for more than 25,000 children. By 2005, Guilford Child Health was the medical home to 30,000 children. Each year, the number of patient visits at the three practice locations continues to grow. Many of the children treated at Guilford aren’t exposed to books until they reach kindergarten.
All books your child completes until the deadline will be included in our class total, including books read at home, at school, on the way – anywhere.
Scholastic Book Clubs has a ClassroomCare website where you can read about donations, its Literacy Partners, activities, and more. To find our class, just look under our school and my name at this URL:

The point of the initiative is not just to encourage reading, but to empower children to make a difference in the lives of other kids. Reading IS giving in the ClassroomsCare program!
Thanks for your support!
Miss Guay
